Abstract

The paper discusses the essentialization of categories of cultural identity, cultural values and social order in the process of their cultural conceptualisation, using the example of basic concepts which make up these categories. The data was collated in a qualitative research among the persons with higher education background in the metropolitan area of Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The results imply the comprehension of these categories which corresponds to cultural deliberation of the existence of an individual and the community and of the links between the two, and normative evaluation of this, in the sense of determining it as "normal" or "natural".
