ETHNIC AND SEXUAL IDENTITY AMONG ROMA: MEN WHO HAVE SEX WITH MEN

Abstract

This paper tries to explain how double marginality of interviewed Romani men who have sex with men influences their overall identity and position within society, and what it means to be a Rom among gays (and to be gay among Roma), or to be a Romani gay in broader society. Question of what are the - mechanisms of integration of Romani gays into both above-mentioned identity groups is also addressed. Identity of these individuals is perceived from their own perspective, as to gain insight into views of this small community of MSM Roma regarding problems that surround them.
