Abstract

How to scientifically elaborate the phenomenon of spectacle which easily and confidently subsists in everyday usage not fearing the possibility of eventual explanation? How can one provide the opportunity for spectacle to grow into a methodological mechanism suitable for anthropological interpretation? How to problematize the spectacle in order to reveal its meanings and functions? All this is the topic of this paper. Anthropological and ethnographic reading implies uncovering of the ideological, bureaucratic and cultural side of the spectacle as a public scene and arena. This paper traces methodological mapping of the phenomenon as a construct, research product and model. Research has been focused on period from 1950s till present day, with methodological conception and research installation which provoke the essence of the spectacle in order to figure out the stratification and complexity of the phenomenon.
