RELATIONS BETWEEN DIMENSIONS OF FAMILY LIFE AND DIMENSIONS OF GENERAL LIFE SATISFACTION IN STUDENTS

Abstract

The family as one of the most important determinants of life is associated with relevant aspects of development, growing up and the inner experience of the world of children and youтх. The main objective of this study was to examine the relation between the dimensions of family life and the general life satisfaction in students. Accordingly, the object of the research is shedding light on the complex relationship between different aspects of family life and general life satisfaction among the respondents. The relation of relevant socio-demographic factors and life satisfaction was also examined. Correlation draft research was organized. The sample consisted of 504 students, and of the instruments are applied Scale of dimensions of family life and Life satisfaction scale, which showed satisfactory metric characteristics. The findings confirmed a statistically significant relationship between examined aspects of family life and general life satisfaction. Discriminant analysis showed that the more satisfied respondents had higher scores on the dimensions of the Patriarchal family relations and Mutual independence of the parents, while the subjects who were less satisfied with their life had higher scores on the dimension of Supporting parenting style. The results are significant because they indicate the potential aspects of measurement and specific patterns between different dimensions оf family life and life satisfaction among the younger population, in the transition from adolescence to adulthood.
