Apstrakt

This paper is concerned with the processes of inheritance and transmission of ritual roles in the "rusalje" ritual. Its rapid expansion and adoption in the neighboring regions are interpreted, followed by an analysis of the reasons and circumstances of the decline in the ritual’s significance and the disappearance of its most characteristic form.
